| Crows scare me | | We have suddenly acquired a flock of crows which are nesting in our cherry tree. I have lived here for twelve years and this is the first time they have arrived.I am a country person and there is an abhorrance of crows too near the home as they are thought to be harbingers of death and sickness.To be honest I am uncomfortable with them being there, although I do know this is a totally irrational fear, I wish they would go far, far away.What do you know about crow folklore, have you found any of it to work out as being true, and what do you think of crows generally? | |
| | The Cost of Living Too High? | | The cost of living has become outrageously high. Food and gas prices continue to soar as the job market shrinks and shrinks the working middle class with it. Even more frustrating is when people holding two to three jobs can't pay off their mortgage. This growing frustration is felt everywhere as employers judge a potential employee from a piece of paper or a computer record before meeting him or her in person. Yet the deciding factor is the person applying for the job. In fact it seems as the middle man, you and me, gets replaced by a computer, our resources dwindle as well.The other day I called a supposed Human Resources department to ask about jobs. The lady told me she can't share this information with me over the phone, even though it is public. In fact she outright refused to share it with me. My reaction? I was miffed. After all she and the Human Resources department are the resources, right? Bye-bye middle man or woman. Now maybe it is just me, but I felt there was little point in the lady being there to answer the phone if she isn't going to perform her job function. | | What do you do when you and your mate get into each others' nerves? | | Today, me and my hubby are both invisible! I get out of his way and vise versa.
It's one of those days when you simply become territorial and just want a little
bit of space. I propped-up my easel and got the blank canvas in place, had the brush right in my hand but that's about it. The 'fairy god creativity' doesn't come today! Ooomph!I found myself toting my folding chair to every shady place outside the house with my laptop. I went on the side but bloody little insects were feeding on me. I went under the cherry tree and bugs, dried leaves and cherries were dropping like they've found sanctuary on my hair! Yep, thank goodness, we have quite a big backyard and lots of plants and trees that I can do a camouflage technique and disintegrate amongst them. Hoping I won't be seen by anyone![em]w00t[/em] Finally, I found a perfect place to disappear! Right under the deck where it's shady and got lots of cool breeze coming in, amongst the ferns and hostas. It's too hot to attack the garden so I decided to indulge with myLot and other biz stuffs that I have. I'd probably be looking at sitting in my b*tt until

| | i had to laugh | | this morning i woke to find that my lovely moggie Max had got out, i have tried to keep him indoors since he was injured by some thug a little while ago, but he must have found a way out somehow, i lock the cat door at night now so other cats don't get in, well i searched all over for him but i couldn't see him....the next minute i looks up and there he was sitting high up in the cherry tree, he looked so cute so i took a pic of him.....isn't that sweet?[em]wub[/em] so i called him in, fed him and gave him water, then he went into my bedroom for his nap....anyways here i am typing away here in mylot and he came back into the livingroom then headed for the cat door, it was locked so he couldn't get out...the next minute he picked up the cat door from the inside with his teeth, and off he went...lol...now i know how he got out, i had locked him in, but forgot to lock the other side, so during the night he'd found a way of getting out...LOL...he is a clever little cat, but i don't want this to be a habit of his because i am scared that he'll get hurt again, does anyone else here have a cat that does things like this? i always got told that cats weren't that clever, WRONG!!! but it... | |

| | dream wedding | | Well as some of you may know, i recently got engaged to my partner after 12 years....yeah, 12 years...LOL....and we were talking about what type of wedding we would like and where it would be held, i have a huge massive garden here and it's big enough to cater for at least 150/200 people, if you look at my photo's you'll see it...i have lived in this house for over 18 years now and i think it would be a wonderful place to get married, my apartment leads right into the garden....i have always wanted to have a wedding here with all the trimmings, we have alot of trees, so i would love to adorn them with clear white sparkling fairy lights, also have a white summerhouse where we can have the ceremony, also deck the ground with a beautiful light wood for the guests, also have all the seating in white benches and lots of white roses in pots all over the garden, we have a huge cherry tree which looks spectacular in the spring because of it's amazing blossom, so i think i have convinced my fiance to have our wedding in our garden next spring or maybe the year after, i have even suggested that we get some white gazibo's for the food and drinks, so this would be a dream come true for me, my... | |
| | There's Nothing Like It To Lift Your Mood! | | Today, I find myself contemplating Nature once again. With the clocks turning forward last Sunday, the evenings have become much lighter... twilight isn't until almost eight o'clock now.The day dawned cloudy, but with the sun peeking through, and intermittently baring Himself in all his glory, bathing the Earth in bright light. The birds were singing, and the children can be heard playing happily in the school playground. The weather is much warmer and the winds have subsided, so all is much calmer and more colorful. I got up and walked to the living room window, to look out upon my garden. The daffodils, battered by the winds, rain and snow of late, are on their way out, but as is Nature's way, are being replaced by new leaves on the rose bushes and forsythia, huge clumps of polyanthus, deep red, yellow, and coral coloured, litter the garden beds, and daisies are springing up on the lawn. (It must be time to get the mower out!)[em]lol[/em] Sparrows are hopping around the branches of a wild rose bush, amongst the hips which still cling to them, bluetits and sparrows are hanging on the peanut columns pecking away at their breakfast, and a baby blackbird sits on the lawn in the... | |
