| | Should I have someone cut down my pine trees in exchange for wood | | I have about 20 pine trees in the back of my yard that I would like to remove. I really don't have the money to pay someone to remove. I saw a couple of listing on Craigslist for pine trees removal in exchange for wood. I am thinking if someone cut the trees down for free so they can use the wood to sell would be a good deal. I was wondering what you guys think? The pine trees are not close to my house so there should not be a issue of them hitting the house. How do I protect myself if I do this? Have anyone ever done this? | |

| | | do you have ticks in your area? | | HI guys, I live in south central Oklahoma and now that the weather has gotten so much warmer the ticks are coming out.
If some of you don't understand the word ticks, they are brown or off color parasites that attach themselves to an animal and humans too.
I walk my dogs every day in some heavily covered grassy areas which might have to change but I have been barraged with a bunch of ticks.
I pulled three out of my head two days ago.
I have put flea and tick collars on my dogs and cats but I have to find a way to keep them off me.
I have sprinkled cedar chips around and inside the house for the possible flea infestation we get here too.
Do you all have any remedies on how to keep ticks off us as humans or even our animals?
Please give me your thoughts.
God bless you all,

| Do you have a theme tree or decorations? | | I do my whole tree and house decorated in snowmen. I love the cute little charaters and have hardly ever found one that isn't cute!! I know some people have theme trees. A gentleman I know puts up 8 trees. Each has a theme. His is airplanes on one and on another he has trains. His wife had her vintage ornaments....his kids each have a little one in their rooms decorated with all their ornaments. So do you do a theme or certain color? | |
| | Time to plan the garden, so what are your plans for your garden this year? | | Mine is to get some bugs that eat other bugs. Last year a lot of my garden got eaten alive. Do my greens indoors because the outdoor greens got eaten and something I read said to rotate my crops. Then get some bug and disease resistant crops. Also onions and garlic indoors as well as some herbs. Outdoors, it will depend on what I can find for bug and disease resistant crops. So have you gotten any gardening books yet? What are your plans? Our Cooperative Extention said that if I want Blue Berries, I should prepare this year to have them next year in order to change the soil enough and the colder the region, the lower to the ground they must be. I don't want the new tree ones anyway. Who can pick anything above 6 feet high. Our apple tree we shake. But I don't know if I want one inch plants and to crawl all over, esp. since we have sub-zero temps. So are you planning any new crops? Rotating any? Do you know the things that you have to watch out for in your area? Like we can't buy currents from most places because they carry a disease that kills pine trees, esp. white pine which is a very important crop here. But one current company is certified to be sold in my area because... | |
| | Some of my decorations | | I have 3 pictures to share here. One is of the tree my husband and son, (my husband wanted to make sure I mentioned my older son helped too), had made. The other picture is the wreath I made from the remnants of the tree. And then my decorated tree with ornaments that are everything to store bought, gifts and handmade, from paper to glass, wood, felt and ceramic. Nothing special except for the family to remember memories of years past..(I also don't have my candy canes up yet, but I thought since I was going to the library tonight, I should get pictures, it might be my last chance before Christmas)So let me tell you a little about this tree itself. The branches are from an artificial tree we had, but the pole the branches went into were stripped out and the branches hung weird, so we couldn't use it anymore. The trunk of this tree is actually a trunk of a scrap pine trees that grow a lot around here. This one was starting to go, so my husband cut it down and cut off the branches. Then he and my son drilled holes for the fake branches to go into. So, when we put the branches on the trunk, we don't have to use those circle branches to hide the trunk, because it already looks... | |
