| Do some things make you so curious you HAVE to learn about them? | | If I see a bird or plant I haven't seen before I have to look them up and find out about them. Not just a name but what type they are and so on. It just bugs me if I don't know. Are you like that? Do you see something and think "I have to know about it" and go look it up? | |

| | Have you started receiving your Spring nursery catalogues yet? I have! | | Here it is, not even January, and I've already received two Spring catalogues. I'm loving life! Well, kinda. They are taking my mind off all the snow we've been getting this year. I've been busy planning my vegetable garden much earlier than I normally do but that's okay. I add new fruit trees to my small orchard each year and, normally, the new trees are already here before I've had a chance to decide where to plant them. This time, I already know where I'll plant the new trees, since I've had plenty of time to decide.I'm also adding berry bushes. I've planted two Goji berry bushes and have already ordered two more. Have you tried Goji berries? They're supposed to be THE antioxidant berry. Whether they are or not, I like having the variety.I'm also going to be adding more purple grapes to my garden. I'm trying to add more high-antioxidant fruits to my diet to, hopefully, be healthier. So, have you received any Spring catalogues yet? Are you planning your Spring garden? Will you be planting anything new next year? If so, please do tell! I love hearing what other people grow and how successful they are. It always inspires me to do just a little bit more. Besides, I can... | |

| | Christmas trees now come in all colors. Do you like them? | | I was in a store and to my surprise I saw a bright red tree decorated in black ornaments. There was also a lime green with pruple ornaments and many other colors. Personally I prefer my fake tree to at least look like a real one. I would get a real one but where I live it cost way to much. How about you? Do you like these new trees or do you prefer a more traditional tree? | |
| | Christmas trees | | Have you seen the different christmas trees available in tghe shops? I don't like the new styles...bright pink and purple trees, upside down trees. I prefer the traditional ones that are green and the normal way up, or a real tree if you can get it.
Have you seen the new trees? Do you like them? Do you have one?

| | Climate bill gives billions to save trees in other nations | | How do you feel about the democrats climate bill,if passed it will give billions of dollars to other nations to not cut down their trees? (Read Story @ Link Below)If a tree falls in Brazil, it will, in fact, be heard in the U.S. - at least if a little-noticed provision in the pending climate-change bill in Congress becomes law.As part of the far-reaching climate bill, the House is set to vote Friday on a plan to pay companies billions of dollars not to chop down trees around the world, as a way to reduce global warming. The provision, called "offsets," has been attacked by both environmentalists and business groups as ineffective and poorly designed. Critics contend it would send scarce federal dollars overseas to plant trees when subsidies are needed at home, while the purported ecological benefits would be difficult to quantify. The offsets "would be a transfer of wealth overseas," said William Kovacs, vice president for environmental affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the official fiscal scorekeeper on Capitol Hill, has not offered an estimate on how much the offset plan would cost, but the liberal Center for... | |
| | The surroundings in Cities!!!!!! | | We have to admit that, comparatively speaking, our cities are not so clean and green as those in the develped countries.
We should make our cities greener by planting more trees, grass and flowers.A green enviroment can bring us pleasure, beauty and fresh air.Trees, lawns and flowers will make our cities more pleasing to both the eye and the mind, improve the weather conditions and provide fresh air,all of which will no doubt do us a lot of good.
I suggest that the whole city go all out every spring to plant new trees, build new lawns in and around the city, and everyone should take care of and protect the trees, flowers, and educate the children to love them. Then year after year, our cities will become greener, more beautiful and liveable.

| | How Do I Get The Walnuts Out? | | I have beautiful gardenia bushes that survived the terrible drought last summer. I trimmed them up a few weeks ago, and found little oak and walnut trees growing up in the middles of them! Not beside or between the bushes, but up the centers. These new trees are about as big around as my thumb and chest-high, and last time I just cut one down, it sprouted new growth and the base is now far too big to even dig out of the foundation of my house. I don't want to kill these little trees, but I also don't want them to kill my gardenias or undermine yet another section of my foundation. So how do I get the trees out from the bushes without killing the gardenias? My husband says to cut the tree and spread tar over the small stump. What is your take on all this? Please help, before the trees get any bigger! | |
| | Logging Industry | | I live in Minnesota USA which has hundreds of thousands of acres of forests. Now logging is a big business in Minnesota. There are quite a few companies that cut the trees down and plant many thousand new trees yearly to replace whats lost thus adding more oxegyn producing trees. They truck the logs all over the US. On a short trip the other day up north I must have seen about 50 trucks on the way there and back all heading south. More than likely to the Minneapolis train yards for shipping them to other states. I love ssing these trucks as I know snow isn't too far off not. What type of business is your area known for that ships the product all over the place? Yes, I took this photo from my car as I drove the highway at 75 MPH. HAHAHAHA! Just me I reckon.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~ | |
