| How to plant a cherry tree | | I was wondering if it is possible to start a cherry tree from the pits? How can I do this? Must I break the pit to get to the seed? Can I use thepits/seeds from cherries I buy from the local grocery store? | |
| | Cherry tree wine | | As a child we had a yard full of cherry trees. Each summer I would eat until I could not eat no more.I would fall to the ground with cherry on my lips and in my heart.Everyday I use to fight with the birds for these special cherrys. They could reach places I could not reach and steal my treasures of the red love.I would climb to the sky with skinned knees trying to fight away these theifs. Then one day I saw a mother bird fly to her bird and give this treat to her baby.I smiled.I knew these little birds just wanted to share and have cherry on theri breath aslo.I started picking cherrys from the trees and putting them into baskets in the trees for the birds to come and feed. These cherrys was the wine I shared in my life with the birds of flight. My cherry tree wine. | |

| | It's an Arboreal Conspiracy | | A couple of weeks ago I donned by thick plaid shirt. My steel capped boots. Put on my hard hat, eye protectors and ear defenders. Grabbing my trusty saw I went and felled a cherry tree in my back garden which had started to threaten the fence with my neighbour. From the ground it looked quite small. So away I went, lopping off branches until at last the trunk was bare and then I sawed and T...I...M...B...E...R! Once on the ground it became huge. I have sawn and hacked and ground. Still the darn tree is there. I will not be beaten, but I am starting to feel that this is some kind of conspiracy to serve me right for chopping it down in the first place. Are the trees fighting back? I'm a lumberjack and I'm NOT OK! | |
| | Fresh, tart cherries! | | Our little cherry tree has a couple of dozen cherries (still green) this year! The kids and I got it a couple of years ago as a Mother's Day gift for my wife. But I have a dilemma. How do I keep the birds away from the cherries? Is there some kind of netting that would be light-weight enough (the tree isn't even 6 feet tall), yet sturdy enough to not get blown away (we've had a windy Spring - a "normal" day has been 15-20 mph winds)? | |

| Dream House?? | | How is your house like now?
IF you have money, what will you do to renovate your house or what criteria are you looking for in buying a new house?? | |
| | Have you ever had a near death experiance? | | Over the summer I was visiting my family in Dominican Republic and I decided to climb on the roof of my aunts house. While i was up there I noticed a cherry tree and i went over to it. As I reached out to get one of the cherries I lost my Balance and fell of the roof. I land on a cement wall and had to rushed to the hospital where I stayed the night. The next day they released me and I had no broken bones thank god. | |
| | I think I am heading off to bed | | Today has been a costly day for me. It will save money in the long run, and cost less than expected, but two big home repairs in a day is a bit much. We were told last fall by the utility that we had a water leak. So I fussed until the leaky toilets, and sinks and showers were all fixed. They do not read the water meter when it is possible to freeze. They insulate it. Last week I was outside when the meter reader was by. He asked if water was running inside, and I said "Laundry". He said, either your meter was read wrong the last time or you have a leak. To the tune of $400 worth of water usage. Well, that was the weekend. We were headed out of town. Knew we would deal with it when we got back, but we found no visible leak. Turns out it was under a slab we had poured about eight years ago. After I had had a new water line done. In addition to the plumbing, my son phones me when I am out of state with a question about the breaker box. He blew one. We could not get it to reset. So to the plumber, add an electrician. Bring in a ditch witch, cut a branch off a cherry tree, dig up a yard and flower bed. Total cost, between the two services was $725. I had money in savings and in Pay Pal... | |

| Do You Have Any Decking In Your Garden/Yard? | | We have a raised flower/plant bed in our yard and the rest of it is made up of flags with a shed at the back. Decking reared its ugly head on that British "gardening" show called "Ground Force." Since then it's become a British obsession. Rather than having swathes of grass and stuff growing everywhere we have become a nation of "I can't be bothered growing nice things, let's deck it and have a barbecue area." Why does this happen? We don't get that much sunshine so why have decking and barbecues, it's not Australia! Is this just a British phenomenon or do other countries not grow anything either? I become upset at the lack of greenery in people's gardens. The shingled driveway for the car is now the dominant feature at the front of houses these days. No wonder we get floods, there's no grass to soak all the rainwater up. A family moved in across the road from my parents and the first thing they did was chop down a cherry tree that used to have beautiful blossom all over it in the springtime. Now there's just a stump but they haven't constructed a driveway for the car. So why did they chop the tree down? The only thing I can think of is that it may have blocked their light...but... | |
